The project
Context
New technologies have changed training methodologies, introducing elements of innovation that have redrawn the role of language teachers and trainers.

Three core competencies are necessary for language teachers / trainers wishing to make efficient use of new technologies for language teaching and training:
  • Knowing how to choose products within the available identifying those that best meet their educational needs.
  • Knowing how to use and enhance the products available either as an alternative or as integration of traditional methodologies.
  • Knowing how to create educational and training products that exploit the potential of new technologies.

In order to respond to the needs outlined above, the LeTS project (http://www.leonardo-lets.net/) developed the following services addressed to university language teachers:
  • An online training course focusing on the criteria and instruments for the selection of language training products exploiting the ICT potential
  • An online training course focused on how to use e-learning products available to replace or supplement the traditional methodologies
  • An online training courses on how to develop language training products exploiting new technologies.
Objectives
The project Lets Go intends to promote the practical experimentation of the LeTS portal developed during the Lets project by two additional target groups: school teachers and professional trainers.
Activities

The project activities are organized into 4 main Work Packages (WPs)

WP1 Identification of target groups

Selection and involvement, by each partner, of 20 language teachers working within 5 (or more) selected schools.
Selection and involvement, by each partner, of 10 language trainers working within the 3 (or more) selected training centres.

WP2 Improvement of the LeTS Portal

Technical update and improvement of the LeTS portal
Check and update of the contents of the LeTS On Line courses
Insertion of new services in the LeTS Portal

WP3 Courses and Practical Experimentation

Organization course 0 “Introduction to e-learning”, that will be delivered, in blended learning, to the teachers and trainers involved in the project.
Each participant (i.e. teacher and trainer) in the course will be asked to present their experiences in the field of application of e-learning in a language teaching context.
Organization course 1 “Research and Evaluation of e-learning based materials for language teaching and learning”, that will be delivered, in blended learning, to the teachers and trainers involved in the project.
Each participant (i.e. teacher and trainer) in the course will be asked to research, select and evaluate a number of e-learning based materials for language teaching and learning.
Organization course 2 “Effective Use of e-learning based materials for language teaching and learning”, that will be delivered, in blended learning, to the teachers and trainers involved in the project.
Organization course 3 “Planning and Creation of e-learning based materials for language teaching and learning”, that will be delivered, in blended learning, to the teachers and trainers involved in the project.
Each group of participants (i.e. teacher and trainer) in the course will be coordinated and supported in the development of at least one e-learning based course for language teaching and learning. Together with the course a Guide to the use of the course should be developed. The format for the e-learning based course will be provided by Silabo.
Each participant (i.e. teacher and trainer) in the course will be asked to make use of the material available on the new LeTS portal with their students or trainees and report on the impact.

WP4 Exploitation

Promotion of the insertion of the LeTS portal in the national education and training systems.
Insertion of the LeTS portal in the Education and Training Planning of each of the school and training centre involved.
Participation in the exploitation conferences organized by the project coordinator
Participation in at least one education or training conference to present the project
Involvement in the project, by each partner, of at least one associate partner.
Activation of links towards the project portal from each of the partners’ web sites and from the web sites each of the participating schools and training agencies each partner coordinates.

Results
The project expected results are:
